NFL COLLEGE DRAFT GRADING SCALE
This letter grade serves to place players in groupings while the numerical grade helps to separate players within those groupings. The round projection attached to the grade is not a prediction on where the player will be drafted but rather an evaluation of where his draft round value is grade wise. Where he actually gets drafted of course depends on how he stacks up versus the other players in the draft. Because a draft may be weaker or stronger in general or at a specific position, it does not make a specific player better or worse just more or less valuable in a given draft. For example I may only give 25 players first round grades but obviously with 32 teams, there will be 32 first round selections. In this case, in my estimation 7 players that will be taken in the first round will actually be second round value. This is why you see teams trade down---they do not want to take a player earlier than his value becuse you are paying more for a player than he is worth. You do not want to pay Lexus prices for a Camry. Quite often you will see players drafted earlier than their value becaue teams often need to fill needs and the depth of that position will affect where you may take a guy. If there is a run on defensive tackles and you need one you may take one sooner than you want and pass up a higher graded player at another position. This is not a recomended drafting strategy but with more teams fored to draft to fill needs immediately, it is becoming more and more common. This scale is to explain what a player's value truly is so you can determine the value of each team's draft picks.

A+ 7.5 - 7.0 Superstar potential. Definite immediate starter. Early first round caliber.
A 6.9 - 6.5 Immediate starter. Likely first-round pick.
B 6.4 - 6.0 Eventual starter. Second-round pick.
C 5.9 - 5.5 Will make an NFL team and contribute. Third-to-fourth-round pick.
C- 5.4 - 5.0 Has a chance to make an NFL team. Fifth-to-seventh-round pick.
D 4.9 High-priority free agent.
D- 4.5 Low-priority free agent. A camp body.
F 4.0 A reject as a NFL prospect.
